My wife and I love boating on Lake Travis but recently welcomed our first child and are unable to make it out as often as we'd like. In lieu of selling the boat, we'd like to find a couple or family to share use. We will continue to maintain the boat (regular service, cleaning, etc.), and handle all ownership related expenses such as insurance, trailer storage, and marina dues. We can commit to allowing more than 50% use by time, including weekends and holidays, and are open to discussing a scheduling option that works best for you. The boat is like new (50-100 engine hours), kept clean, and runs smoothly. There is a dual battery setup with shore power to ensure reliable startup and fully charged batteries prior to each use. There is ample storage space onboard, buoys and lines, a lock box to keep items stowed underway, a swim platform, and a ladder.
Think of this as effectively having all of the benefits of owning a boat without any of the headaches of actually owning it. Boats in this tier (~$125K MSRP) on both Lake Travis and Austin can be rented hourly (usually $200-$300 without a captain) or via a boat club membership (e.g. Nautical Boat Club). In my experience, individual boat rentals are difficult to book on short notice, on weekends, and around holidays, while boat club memberships have tremendously high one-time initiation fees (approaching $10,000 for this tier of boat), and similarly struggle to fill reservations on short notice at premium times. Shared use avoids both of these disadvantages.
Please contact me if interested - happy to provide a tour of marina and boat, discuss scheduling options, etc.
